The Conversation That Never Happened

The founding team of A Moment With each had their own version of this experience. A grandfather who died before anyone thought to ask about his childhood during wartime. A grandmother whose remarkable career as a nurse went largely unrecorded. A parent whose immigration story — full of courage and hardship and quiet triumph — exists now only in fragments.

What if capturing a story was as easy as having a conversation? Not: what if we could build a better recording device? But: what if the entire process — the questions, the recording, the storytelling, the production — could happen almost automatically, so the only thing you had to do was show up and care?

A Moment With was founded in Melbourne, Australia, with a belief that story preservation shouldn’t be a privilege. Today, the platform serves families across 15 countries, with a 4.9-star rating in the App Store and more than 50,000 stories preserved. It operates as a registered NDIS provider, working directly with aged care facilities across Australia.

What We’ve Learned From 10,000 Families

We built A Moment With to preserve stories. What we’ve discovered is that it also repairs them. Families reconnect. Estranged relatives find common ground through a shared parent’s story.
