A Moment With Pty Ltd (“A Moment With”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of people who use our app and website. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. About this policy

This policy applies to amomentwith.com and the A Moment With mobile applications (collectively, the “Service”). It is governed by the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account details — name, email address, profile photo (optional)
  • Content — photos, videos, voice notes, and written memories you add to your stories
  • Communications — messages you send via support or feedback

2.2 Information we collect automatically

  • Device data — device type, operating system, app version, IP address
  • Usage data — features used and session activity, to keep the Service reliable
  • Cookies / similar — on our website only; see “Cookies and analytics” below

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, secure, and improve the Service
  • Authenticate you and protect your account
  • Process the photos, voice notes, and content you choose to add so the Service can display, organise, and (where you ask) AI-assist your stories
  • Communicate with you about the Service
  • Comply with our legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your photos, videos, voice notes, or memories to train AI models, and we never use your content for advertising.

4. How we share your information

We share information only as needed to run the Service, with providers who process it on our behalf under their own privacy obligations:

  • Cloud infrastructure — Amazon Web Services (media storage in Australia: ap-southeast-2, Sydney) and Google Firebase (authentication and app data).
  • Search — Algolia, to power in-app search.
  • Payments — Apple App Store and RevenueCat (in-app subscriptions); Stripe (purchases made on our website).
  • Email delivery — Amazon SES, to send account and service emails.
  • Print fulfilment — Gelato, only when you order a printed product (e.g. a photobook or calendar), and only the files needed to print and ship it.
  • Analytics — Google Analytics 4 (with anonymised IP) on our website, only if you consent.
  • Legal — when required by law, or to protect rights, safety, or property.

We never share your stories, photos, voice notes, or memories with anyone outside your story unless you choose to invite them. Visibility is yours to control — each Story and each Moment can be set to Private, People, or Public.

5. Storage and security

Your content is stored on Amazon Web Services (S3, Sydney) for media, and Google Firebase (Firestore) for account and story data. Both are encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We keep versioned, geo-redundant backups of your media and point-in-time recovery for your data, so your memories are protected against accidental loss. We use industry-standard security practices but cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you (you can also export your data from within the app)
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate information
  • Deletion — delete your account and content at any time directly in the app (Profile → Delete Account), or ask us to delete it (subject to legal retention requirements)
  • Withdraw consent — opt out of analytics at any time

7. Retention

We retain your account and content while your account is active. If you delete your account — from within the app or by request — we delete your personal information within 90 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Children

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact privacy@amomentwith.com.

9. International transfers

We are based in Australia and store your media in Australia. Some service providers (such as Google Firebase) may process data in other countries. By using the Service, you consent to your information being processed in those locations under equivalent or stronger privacy protections.

10. Cookies and analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics 4 (with anonymised IP) to understand site usage. You will see a notice the first time you visit and can decline analytics cookies — your choice persists for 12 months. We do not use cookies for advertising, behavioural targeting, or third-party data sharing.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app notice.
